Vote in the Festival Awards and win a prize!

reeeading.jpgThe summer is over and festival season has officially come to an end. Now it's time for you to vote, which Festival was the highlight of your summer! The UK Festival Awards will be taking place in Central London (where else?) on November 6th and is the industry’s only awards voted for solely by the people who really matter – the fans. Although it's unclear whether those that matter - the fans - are allowed in.

With so many festivals to choose from brace yourself for a hard decision. There are over 20 categories to vote in this year, including Best New Festival so it’s not all about the big guns. The UK has arguably the most vibrant festival scene in the world, and it is time to honour those who made this year a little more special. Have your say and set the standard for next year by voting now at www.festivalawards.com. As well as making a difference to the festival scene, your vote will also qualify you for an exclusive money-can’t-buy prize draw to win a pair of tickets to every winning festival in 2008! You can vote on a whole host of things, from Best Act to Best New Festival... and even Best Toilets. Sadly, we aren't in that category...

Festivals round-up: Wickerman review, arrests at Global Gathering, Lovebox Weekender gets thumbs-up

proclaimers.gif- Skiddle.com has a comprehensive review of events at the Wickerman festival where, you'll be pleased to hear, the food wasn't "dog shit on a plate". The Proclaimers must have been relieved

- The Secret Garden Party, whose website so warmed my cockles recently, struck a writer at The Telegraph as an excuse for adults to behave like kids. Like most festivals, then?

- Some people were arrested for drugs offences at Global Gathering. The world continues to turn

- The usually sniffy Drowned In Sound very much enjoyed Lovebox Weekender

- The BBC website has a focus on the up-and-coming young folk acts who performed at Cambridge Folk Festival at the weekend

Festivals round up – the weather rains on everyone’s parade

fesitval%20rain.jpg

You may have noticed a teeny tiny bit of rain across the UK this weekend. And BOY did it affect the festivals!

- The Glade Festival was one of the first to be badly hit by this weekend’s apocalyptical storms. With the Overkill Stage under nearly 2 feet of water and tents being washed away, organisers were forced to stop letting ticket holders in and many frustrated fans headed home without setting foot on site.

Festivals round-up: Wickerman nuptuals, Eden Sessions Winehouse betting, Latitude spirits and the undampening thereof

wine.house.gif- Where's that "dampened spirits" cliche counter? It's just gone up by one, anyway, courtesy of the Lowestoft Journal's preview of Latitude

- Next week's Wickerman festival will see four weddings take place on site at Dundrennan, south-west Scotland. Let's hope none of the stag nights involve fire and the Wickerman himself

- The Eden Sessions kick off next week as well in Cornwall, with Pet Shop Boys, Hot Chip and Lily Allen featuring among the headliners. You can place a bet as to whether Amy Winehouse will / won't turn up for her show
