Fflam, Lodestar, Rock The Rock - festival failures, cancellations and catastrophes

Untitled-2%20copy.jpgThis year has been jam packed, like a pikey’s pockets in Primark, overflowing with festivals of all sizes. With a calendar as saturated as the summer’s flooded fields it was inevitable that some would sink.

This summer’s abysmal weather has resulted in a number of 2007 festival cancellations. For events like Cambridge’s self-proclaimed “new music” LodeStar festival, set to feature The Rakes and Idlewild, and Cheshire’s Acoustic Festival of Britain, due to play host to The Bluetones and The Saw Doctors, the rain stopped play leaving sites and access routes unfit for use.

Lodestar latest festival to be cancelled due to poor weather

BadlyDrawnBoy.jpgThe new LodeStar festival, which was planned to take place near Lode, in Cambridgeshire from Friday 31st August til Sunday 2nd September, is the latest victim of the terrible weather and has been cancelled.

Festival organiser Doug Durrant has just told BBC 6 Music that he felt that the awful summer weather was putting people off buying tickets. Acts booked to appear at the festival included pretend Mancunian, but very real Boltonian, Badly Drawn Boy, Idlewild, The Bees, The Pigeon Detectives, The Rakes, Ghosts, Palladium, Envelopes, Foals, Friendly Fires, Terra Naomi, The Strange Death of Liberal England, The Hot Puppies, and more.

Refunds for tickets should be available from the point of purchase.

Lodestar lineup leaked

idlewild.jpg Not really leaked, actually, but it was the best we could do to keep the headline alliterative. Anyway, the lineup for laid-back Cambridge-based folk festival Lodestar has been announced. Highlights include Idlewild (you know, the ones with the whiny but catchy American English song) and The Rakes headlining on Saturday 1st September, and Badly Drawn Boy, who - no joke - MCT once mistook for a tramp in the middle of London, working the crowd on the Sunday.

The full line-up is available here.

Weekend tickets are still available now at £85, or £55 for single days.
