Neil Young added to Roskilde bill

Neil Young shows sell out fast. Worse still, they ALWAYS cost an arm and a leg. So, how do you go about watching the great man? Well, one answer is to catch him at a festival, which is handy as Young has been added to this year's Roskilde Festival bill.

Young last played the Danish festival in 2000 and returns to plug his latest LP 'Chrome Dreams'. On the bill, Young will be playing with Radiohead and My Bloody Valentine. Not bad eh? The festival is hosted near Copenhagen and takes place from July 3 - 6. More news, info and ticket details can be found at www.roskilde-festival.dk. Young kicked off his UK leg last night in Edinburgh and he'll round-up these shores with dates at the Hammersmith Apollo ( March 5/6/8/9/11/14/15) and Manchester Apollo (11/12). Vote in the Festival Awards and win a prize!

reeeading.jpgThe summer is over and festival season has officially come to an end. Now it's time for you to vote, which Festival was the highlight of your summer! The UK Festival Awards will be taking place in Central London (where else?) on November 6th and is the industry’s only awards voted for solely by the people who really matter – the fans. Although it's unclear whether those that matter - the fans - are allowed in.

With so many festivals to choose from brace yourself for a hard decision. There are over 20 categories to vote in this year, including Best New Festival so it’s not all about the big guns. The UK has arguably the most vibrant festival scene in the world, and it is time to honour those who made this year a little more special. Have your say and set the standard for next year by voting now at www.festivalawards.com. As well as making a difference to the festival scene, your vote will also qualify you for an exclusive money-can’t-buy prize draw to win a pair of tickets to every winning festival in 2008! You can vote on a whole host of things, from Best Act to Best New Festival... and even Best Toilets. Sadly, we aren't in that category...

Festivals round-up: T In The Park, Roskilde, Oxegen - further spirits undampened, exhausted Winehouse visits pub shocker

winehouse%26hubby.gif

It's been another weekend of festival action and maybe a few light showers. Let's see how it all went, shall we?

- Amy Winehouse's pesky bout of exhaustion forced her to pull out of T In The Park. Guess she must have been feeling a bit better by Saturday night, since I know at least two people who saw her boozing it up in Camden pubs with her hubby (and some pals who were on the pink Lambrini)

- Rain, mud, traffic. They seem to be recurring themes this year, and T In The Park was no exception. Sadly some people had to be turned away on Friday evening

- Snow Patrol's keyboardist almost missed their show because he had been residing in a jail cell

Roskilde 2007 - the most laid-back of Euro festivals

Roskilde.jpg

This weekend in the UK, thousands will be thronging up to Scotland for T In The Park. Thousands more will be on the way to Wembley for Live Earth. Meanwhile, over in Denmark, our Euro neighbours will be preparing for Europe’s other biggest music festival (alongside Glastonbury of course), Roskilde.

So while T In The Park is swamped in security and buying a ticket for this year’s Glastonbury was like a military operation, do the Danes do it differently?

Festivals round-up (ROCK edition): Pearl Jam to testify for Roskilde families, Dave Mustaine is lovely, heavy metal addiction exists

vedder.gif- Pearl Jam will testify on the behalf of families who lost loved ones in the 2000 tragedy at Roskilde

- Dave Mustaine of Megadeath may have fallen out with everyone ever over the years, but judging by his message to Download fans he's a little sweetie

- Rage Against The Machine will be headlining the Vegoose festival in Las Vegas, in case you happen to be in that part of the world in October

- Finally - if you feel compelled to blast Slayer while at work, you may be able to use this excuse
