Vote in the Festival Awards and win a prize!

reeeading.jpgThe summer is over and festival season has officially come to an end. Now it's time for you to vote, which Festival was the highlight of your summer! The UK Festival Awards will be taking place in Central London (where else?) on November 6th and is the industry’s only awards voted for solely by the people who really matter – the fans. Although it's unclear whether those that matter - the fans - are allowed in.

With so many festivals to choose from brace yourself for a hard decision. There are over 20 categories to vote in this year, including Best New Festival so it’s not all about the big guns. The UK has arguably the most vibrant festival scene in the world, and it is time to honour those who made this year a little more special. Have your say and set the standard for next year by voting now at www.festivalawards.com. As well as making a difference to the festival scene, your vote will also qualify you for an exclusive money-can’t-buy prize draw to win a pair of tickets to every winning festival in 2008! You can vote on a whole host of things, from Best Act to Best New Festival... and even Best Toilets. Sadly, we aren't in that category...

72 drug-related arrests at Escape Into The Park

EscapePark2.gifSwansea police weren't kidding when they said they'd be conducting an intense stop-and-search policy at the Escape festival at the weekend. 72 people were arrested, with 44 of these for offences involving Class A drugs. 13 people were arrested for possession with intent to supply at the one-day event, which was headlined by Calvin Harris. Wonder how many arrests the police make due to drink-related offences on a Saturday night in Swansea...

Escape Into The Park: Calvin Harris headlines Swansea's contribution to the festival season

calvinharris300.gifThe time has come for 20,000-odd ravers to go mental in Swansea. Yep, Escape Into The Park (presented by Godskitchen) takes place this Saturday 16th June at Singleton Park. It runs from midday to midnight, providing 12 solid hours of, as Tracey might gurn, "'avin' it".

There are acts covering chart-dance to drum n' bass - headliners include Calvin Harris, Fedde Le Grand, Shapeshifters, Lisa Lashes, Goldie and Grooverider. Tickets, in this overcrowded festival season, are still available here for £39. That's including booking fee, which isn't too bad for 12 hours of partying, but then one has to add "refreshments" to that figure.
