Snoop Dogg and Lindsay Lohan to collaborate on some drug-related crime her new album

Well this is a teaming we've been waiting a while for, isn't it? Ex-jailbird Snoop Dogg and ex-jailbird Lindsay Lohan are apparently going to make some beautiful/excruciating music on her second album.

Yes, second. What, you don't remember her first attempt at music stardom, A Little More Personal? Well don't sweat it, neither does she (badoom-tish). Snoop isn't the only one drawn to the challenge of parlaying La Lohan's ubiquitous profile into pop perfection, either - other stars on her new project will include Timbaland and Pharrell Williams and Calum Best.

New Kids On The Block need to stop playing with ladies' emotions

Hmm, do I smell an April Fool? After all the will they/won't they shenanigans a couple of months back, a report surfaces today that New Kids On The Block are to reform and perform on a US TV show on Friday.

It's electro-grime time: Wiley's "Wearing My Rolex" is going to be massive

rolex.gifWhile listening to Kiss 100 this morning, I heard something I've never heard before. That would almost be worth posting about alone, given how many mornings I've cursed the radio after hearing the same nonsense all damn week.

It came from Wiley, who, last I knew, was coming a distant second to Dizzee Rascal in the "First Grime Superstar" contest a few years back.

But my God, this is very very good. Or "heavy". Or "heaveee blud". Following the likes of Kanye West and Dallas Austin adding house stylings to their hip-hop, this track sees the same kind of thing being done with grime, I suppose - although that particular genre gets the smallest look-in really, if we're honest. The track might remind you pretty strongly of Bodyrox and Luciana's hit "Yeah Yeah" from last year, but when Wiley's rhymes come in it takes it to a whole other level, in my opinion.

This is going to be huge, so you might as well get used to it by giving it a listen over the page.

I Thought You Were Dead!: New R.E.M video - "Supernatural Superserious"

STIPEMAN.gif

Remember R.E.M? They were the biggest band on Planet Earth once upon a time, and were led by a superhero named StipeMan, who you can see above. Then they got a bit old and you kind of forgot about them, you flighty flibbertigibbets. Well if you wanted them to disappear, IT HAS NOT WORKED.

R.E.M are all kinds of back, and the pleasing news is that their new single is pretty good - a satisfying mix of crunchy riffage and those lovely Mike Mills backing vocals you'll always associate with them at their best. The video isn't much to write home about, but I don't suppose you can expect middle-aged men to do bloody cartwheels, so give them a break, OK?

Check out the music with moving images after getting your click on below.

I Thought You Were Dead!: New Kids On The Block are / are not returning

First they were; then they weren't. And, sadly for newly-divorced women in their early thirties, it looks like the "weren't"s have it. But let's not let that prevent us from reminiscing over "Hangin' Tough". I think it might be time to bring that weird elbow-swinging dance move back, you know.

I Thought You Were Dead!: Eagles - "Busy Being Fabulous"

I love watching a crowd of MILFs out on the razz. And boy, does this new video from wrinkly country-rockers Eagles (no "The", apparently) have some crackers. Also, for some reason there's a monkey pulling a funny face and picking pockets... or is that Don Henley, boom boom, etc. The song totters along pleasantly enough I suppose, but really it's more about the cougars than the DILFs.

I Thought You Were Dead!: New Alanis Morissette video - "Underneath"

Alanis Morissette is one of those singers who never really seems to be on my radar. I'll be honest, all I know about her from the last few years is that she was engaged to that Van Wilder guy and appeared in Nip/Tuck.

Music-wise, I don't think I can remember anything she's done in recent times, which may mean it was rubbish but is just as likely to mean that in this day and age it's easy to ignore and avoid acts that don't mean much to you.

Anyway, her new song is called "Underneath" and it's actually rather pleasant in an FM pop-rock kind of way. And I may be wrong, but I think that when she winks at the end of the video she looks rather adorable. Judge for yourself after the jump.

I Thought You Were Dead!: Janet Jackson returns with "Feedback"

JanJack is back. To attack. With "Feedback". The song which reminds me of Brandy's crunchy R&B; stormer from a few years back, "What About Us?". It's not quite as good, in my humble opinion, but it is the kind of slightly sleazy clubby pop track that would have sat quite nicely on Britney's latest album.

And the video? Well, where to begin? Dancing in space with ninjas. In a weave. Dancing atop a big pool of white liquid, which one can only hope is milk. Playing a bit of football with some white orbs. I am sure this is all Very Significant In Some Kind Of Way.

Supergrass return as the Diamond Hoo Ha Men, play annoyingly small London shows

It does annoy me when bands take on alter egos. OK, for secret gigs it's fair enough, but beyond that my weary brain kind of thinks "ugh, so I have to get my head around a whole new band that isn't even a whole new band?"

All of that goes out the window if said alter ego produces something worth listening to, mind. Fortunately that's the case with Supergrass's new single, which is called "Diamond Hoo Ha Man" and which they're promoting as the Diamond Hoo Ha Men. You may spot a connection there.

"Diamond Hoo Ha Man" sounds a bit like Queens Of The Stone Age covering Jet. Or, er, vice versa. I mean that in the best possible way, you understand. A couple of video teasers have been posted on El Tube, but I'd suggest you head over to their MySpace to give the full track a listen.

I Thought You Were Dead!: Hear Estelle team up with Kanye West on "American Boy"

You may have noticed that Brit singer / hop-hopper Estelle has returned to the scene recently, after nicking off to New York a few years back. You remember! Her that did "1980"?

Her comeback single from the tail end of last year, "Wait A Minute (Just A Touch)", was produced by Will.i.Am, and since she signed to John Legend's record label the procession of starry sidekicks shows no sign of stopping. Why, the latest track from her forthcoming album to see the light of day features Mr. Collabo himself, Kanye West.

I Thought You Were Dead!: Gabrielle - "Every Little Teardrop"

Apparently this is the second song from Gabrielle's new album "Always". Er, the first must have passed me by. Anyway, nowadays the vintage soul-infused pop that Gabbers was peddling a few years back is rather in vogue, so it makes sense for her to come back with more of the same. Like Mutya she seems to have a nabbed a little something from Lenny Kravitz's "It Ain't Over Til It's Over". I think this is rather good. Well done Gabbers.

I Thought You Were Dead! - Alicia Keys, "No One"

alicia.gifRemember that soulful songstress who kept falling in and out of love with you? Well, she’s back and she's still going on about it.

Unfortunately for those who might have cared, Alicia's new single "No One" is as bland as a packet of Salt ‘n’ Shake crisps without the salt on.

With a multitude of Grammys and various other awards tucked under her designer belt, Alicia recently previewed some of her songs from new album As I Am at a special show in London. Ms Keys told the baying press, “Before, I felt the need to prove myself, being young and being a woman. This time I wanted to be free. I went into the studio with no idea what would happen. That created the best music I’ve written in my whole life so far.” [via sony bmg]

Best music of her life, eh? Interesting. Personally, I can’t listen to "No One" without thinking how much it sounds like Steps’ “One For Sorrow” - although I suppose that probably says more about me than the Keyster.

Have a listen after the jump and see what you think.

I Thought You Were Dead!: Paul McCartney - Ever Present Past

Didn't really think he was dead, of course. Had kind of forgotten he made music though, what with "everything else".

Macca's new single, from his album Memory Almost Full, is a pretty jaunty affair. And my, how the video reflects this. There he is, look, dancing around in his Converse and tie. And not just dancing, but choreographed dancing. Perhaps unsurprisingly - this is pop music, after all - he's not grooving away with ladies of his own age (there's an idea for a revolutionary video).

No, it's young hotties all the way. And why not? At least they seem to be dancing in a museum / art gallery, which claws back some dignity...

I Thought You Were Dead! - Craig David returns with "Hot Stuff", hands royalties to David Bowie

craigdaaavid.gifCraggle! Craggle's back! And something tells me he's been listening to David Bowie. Why? Because he's nicked the best bits of Mr. B's "Let's Dance", and then "done his thing" all over the bloody top of it. Well, it worked for Biggie. Or was that Ma$e? Whatever.

In case you were wondering whether Craggle is any less fond of "the laydeez", I'm pleased to be able to tell you that no, no he is not. There are a couple of other changes you should be aware of, though. For one, he's clearly been on the protein shakes. For another, the over-maintained 'tache / beard combo? GONE. For proof, check the viddy after the clicky.
