Fever Ray's "When I Grow Up" video confirms Karin Dreijer does might in fact have a face

karin_dreijer.jpg

Remember when you were young, and that story went around the town about the deranged lady who broke into that rich family's back garden and spent all night throwing shapes on the diving board of their pool while dressed as a Native American scarecrow?

That's the new Fever Ray video. Good old scary Karin Dreijer actually shows us part of her face in this clip, which suggests her Fever Ray project might be the point at which the spooksome masks are finally cast aside.

"When I Grow Up", like Fever Ray's first single "If I Had A Heart", unsettles while dangling just enough hook to make you want to listen to it again immediately.

I think I might be falling in love with the Swedish weirdo, you know. See if you feel the same after the jump.

*UPDATE* Er, this probably isn't actually Karin in the video after all. BUT STILL (?!).

Gene Simmons, Dolly Parton appear on a christian's face

Hey, how weird do you think it would be to see a person with all the members of Kiss painted onto his face? Do you think it would be as weird as this?

Chances are some of you found that slightly disturbing. In which case I would like to assure you that you ain't even sniffed disturbing until you've seen him doing Dolly Parton.

Rick Ross delights MURS by dissing him

murs.jpgAs 50 Cent and Rick Ross do their tiresome WWE-style back-and-forth beefing, it's nice to see an overlooked talent get a bit of exposure as a by-product.

MURS has been going for a good 15 or so years in some form or another, but it might turn out that his biggest break comes as a result of being namechecked by Ross in one of his disses at Fiddy.

"I don't know MURS," Ross raps over a MURS beat. What might rile some folk up seems to delight the good-humoured MURS, who goes on to thank Ross for the namecheck on "Who's The Boss?" - and I love the set-up in the video, which sees MURS go from his desk straight to the recording booth after watching the Ross vid.

Check it out after the jump.

I'll Hit Her: those Estonian indie/electro acts just keep coming

i'll_hit_her.jpg

I'll tell you, trying to find info about an act called I'll Hit Her will throw up some puh-ritty disturbing search results on Google. And while some of them might be kind of darkly entertaining, chances are not a one will be as pleasing on the earbones as "Noise In Your Mind".

If you don't mind I'll sidestep the obvious issues regarding their name in a rather cowardly manner, and just concentrate on the music maaan.

Simian Mobile Disco's "Synthesise" video is dottier than your grandmother

If you enjoyed the acid house flourishes of the likes of "It's The Beat" from Simian Mobile Disco's debut album Attack Decay Sustain Release, "Synthesise" should tickle your synapses nicely. It comes from their as-yet-untitled second album, due for release later this year.

The video, with its dots and blobs, is a bit like a nu-rave colour-blindness test. What? You can't see those vibrant purples and oranges??

(Warning: contains lots of flashing images and stuff)
