In-Tents Questioning: Glastonbury - Nick Fleetwood
Nick went to Glastonbury this year. He had to return early unfortunately - did this ruin his fun? Let's find out, shall we? (Yes)
1. Kindly tell us your name, age and where you’re from. Now.
Nick Fleetwood, 27, London.
2. Which festival have you recently attended?
Glastonbury 2007.
3. Have you attended this festival before? If yes, how does this year compare?
Yes, four other times. This was the worst of the lot. Still great music and randomness but mud, facilities and weather were all the worst of the lot.
4. Which act gave the best performance, and why?
Kasabian - mud-stomping brilliance. Best people to build a crowd up and cracking tunes to boot.
5. If you could have promoted one act on the bill to headline status, who would you choose? Why?
I'd put Kasabian ahead of Arctic Monkeys as the Monkeys were a bit overawed by the whole thing.
6. Did your opinion of any acts change radically as a result of their performance?
Not really.
7. Nicest surprise / biggest disappointment (music-related or otherwise)?
Nicest surprise were CSS, loads of energy and three costume changes despite the mud. Biggest disappointment was the lack of paths. How much more would it have cost to put solid walkways across the site instead of the bleeding mudways?
8. What was the best heckle you heard?
"Turn it up!" during The Killers.
9. What was the funniest moment (music-related or otherwise)?
Dizzee Rascal's rap with Arctic Monkeys - with his mic turned off the crowd didn't hear a word he said.
10. Weirdest moment (if different)?
Walking into a wooden bus stop in the Park stage and finding a tuned piano and a couple of guys playing Beatles, Coldplay and Killers tunes.
11. Any moments of sheer terror you’d like to share?
Finding out I had trenchfoot on Sunday morning and being told by the doctor that I had to go home.
12. Anything you wish you’d brought with you?
A waterproof tent instead of the shit one my parents bought me for my birthday.
13. Anything you wish you’d left behind?
My suit. My mates were going to get hitched at Lost Vagueness but couldn't get a slot, so the suit could have been left at home.
14. Please mark the following elements out of 10, with any comments:
General facilities:
5/10. Poor sound at the pyramid stage.
Crowd / audience:
10/10. Great camaraderie and loads of laughs.
Food and drink value for money:
9/10. If you know where to get it!
15. Finally – anything else you’d like to mention?
Only three tractors!? Loads of people's cars stuck in mud and no-one to help them!

Nick you lightweight!! We camped in a puddle right on the perimiter fence, it was like a shanty town down there. The weather, the mud, the facilities could not spoil it a bit. The deep mud and the adversity thrown at us by the weather only galvanised everyones spirit. I have been three times now, the first time was in 2003 when it was absolutely boiling and this time was the best of the lot.
Perhaps its a bit too hardcore for you why not try a nice weekend in brighton or something next year.

Hmm, I think if I developed trenchfoot and the docs told me not to remain in the mud where I contracted said infection, I'd follow their advice an' all...
But then I really AM a lightweight.
