No portaloo worries for Glastonbury newcomer Brown

pietabrown.jpg

High on the list of possible festival anxieties for girls like me is: Just how smelly will the portaloos be by Day Two? One lady unlikely to be bothered by the state of the facilities is at this year's Glastonbury Festival is Pieta Brown.

The folk singer is set to make her Glastonbury debut performing with Bo Ramsey at the 2007 festival, but a childhood in rural Iowa and Alabama in houses with no electricity or running water have no doubt prepared her for the worst nature has to offer.

Brown, daughter of two-time Grammy nominee Greg Brown, is on the verge of releasing third album 'Remember The Sun', a pared-down folk disc with echoes of a country-style Nerina Pallot. Album highlight 'Innocent Blue' will go down a treat with the chilled-out Glastonbury-goers. And she should get extra brownie points for being Performer Most Unlikely To Throw A Hissy Fit If The Luxury Portaloos Break Down.
