Hate my phone. It's so... so... normal. It is not remotely ruggedized. What, you don't know that word yet? Get with it, Pops. For "ruggedized" is how the Sonim XP1 is described by its manufacturers. On this site it is even pictured being held in some kind of industrial glove, so ruggedized and downright dangerous is it.

Anyway - the reason this phone is mentioned here is that it is ideal for "a variety of outdoor and sports activities", plus it features "high-output audio", which I think means that it is "loud". All of which makes it ideal for making that call to your jealous, loser mate who couldn't get tickets to Glasto and who is missing out on Hot Chip's amazing set RIGHT NOW.

If that's not enough, it also claims to be "shock, water and dust resistant" - which means that, when you fall in that puddle after drunkenly tripping over a tent peg, you may be concussed but at least you'll be able to text the fact to some poor soul who is trying to get some kip don't you know what time it is some of us have work in the morning, etc, etc.

You'll pay a pretty price for this John McLean-chic hardware though - around £200.
