eBay Glastonbury tickets being sold on lookey-likey basis
Well, that new registration process for Glastonbury hasn't prevented some unscrupulous folk from placing their tickets on eBay, as reported by BBC News. Michael Eavis is condemning such tactics, unsurprisingly, and maintains that nobody without their own official ticket will gain entry (update: Glasto has now cancelled any tickets sold on eBay). This year ticketholders had to register their details and a photo to ensure no such reselling naughtiness would took place.
Which poses interesting questions about the how the sellers of tickets on eBay expect to convince buyers that their tickets will gain them entry. I took a look - in the interests of research, of course - and found that the tickets are being flogged, comically, on a lookey-likey basis.
So after the usual heartbreaking "I am having to sell this ticket because of ill health" spiel, the seller of one ticket - which is listed as "Glastonbury Ticket - Female" - says: "As far as the picture on the ticket is concerned it's pretty miniscule. As long as you are female and have long-hair, i think you would be fine."
Which is just the reassurance you'd be after if you were about to part with a few hundred quid. For me, this all brings back cringe-inducing memories of trying to enter clubs with fake I.D... I wonder if there will be a few fake 'taches and wigs amongst the punters trying to get through the Glasto gates.
Amusingly, the bidding on said ticket has jumped from £300, up through the thousands, and now sits at £8,000,100.00. Something tells me this particular transaction is not going to go through cleanly.
