Badly Drawn Boy announces secret date

Damon Gough, a.k.a. Badly Drawn Boy, has announced ‘probably his last gig of the year’ - a secret Manchester gig next Thursday at Sankeys’ new night The Aftershow.
In typical understated Damon style, he mailed his fans apologetically, saying: “There's no public awareness as to who plays at these nights, it's down to the artist to exclusively let you know, which is what I am doing now (I'm a week late though). If you'd like to be there subscribe soon, or if you can't go let someone else know instead. Hope to see you there.”
BDB will be supported by acts Beep Seals and Jim Noir, as well as DJs including the McNamara brothers from Embrace. And with all that for a fiver, you can’t really complain. As it’s in Manchester, Damon will be donating his fee for the gig to ‘charities that were dear to Tony Wilson’, so there’s a feelgood reason for going too.
BDB used the mailout as an opportunity to thank fans for supporting him through his career – he recently celebrated ten years as a recording artist. He also announced his intention to release new material before the end of the year: “(It’ll be brand new) in the form of an EP or maybe MINI LP, even if it's a collection of demos, I'm eager to move on creatively.”
