EXCLUSIVE: Reverend and The Makers debut next album on tour

If you’re lucky enough to catch Sheffield lads Reverend and the Makers on their current UK tour, you may get more than you bargained for. Lead singer Jon McClure, a.k.a. The Reverend, has revealed that at least one audience has had a sneak preview of album two on tour - after only two singles from the first album ‘The State Of Things’ have been released.
Jon told me he wants to share the music with the fans, not make loads of money. “We make music for the people, by the people,” he said. “It’s not about being commercial, it’s about spreading the word, taking the message global and sharing music with the fans. I mean, on Monday night we played in Portsmouth and afterwards we were outside. I’ve written the whole second album already and we’re not one of those bands who’ll release eight more singles to drag out the money before we get to it. I want to get it out there. So I shouted ‘who wants to hear the next album?’ Everyone shouted yeah so I jumped on the side of the van and we did the whole second album for them, right then and there outside the venue’.
Add to that the poems that Jon liberally sprinkles his gigs with, the fact that he’s keen to meet and mix with fans afterwards and the mega extra bonus that his brother Chris – star of the Arctic Monkeys album cover Whatever People Say I Am That’s What I’m Not – is selling all the merchandise on tour; and you’d be daft not to catch them before their UK tour ends on 26th October. For dates, locations and prices, visit the gigs section of their official website.
