Last week I did a post on ways to discover to music online - too early for me to mention Skreemr.com, which I only encountered for the first time at the weekend.

SkreemR comes with an admittedly annoying web 2.0-style name (Flickr has a lot to answer for) and, with Halloween approaching, an appropriately fangtastic logo (soz).

The site effectively does much the same as The Hype Machine's MP3 index fuction, but without the community feel that comes with a billion-odd blog posts. The FAQ has a guide on the best ways to search, which is handy because I found that typing the name of a song into the search box wasn't necessarily enough to get the results I wanted. Using the "artist" field tended to yield better results.

When your results come up you can listen to the track there on the page, or click through to the blog on which the track is hosted. Needless to say we don't condone illegally downloading any of these tracks...

Another cool thing SkreemR has going for it is a couple of add-ons. One for the Songbird media player, should you use it; but also one for the Firefox search bar, which I've already added and imagine will come in pretty handy.
