I Don't Like Them As Much As I'm Supposed To - Muse

I fear I'm going to get crucified for this... but I really don't like Muse. To me, they're nothin' more than Radiohead on steroids... and I don't like Radiohead either. Of course, I'm being a bit glib in an attempt to wind up die-hard Musos (I bet I'm not the first, or even the millionth, person to wheel that lame-ass joke out), but seriously, there is only so much whining tortured artistry I can stomach.

I've seen 'em live, heard the records, seen the videos and I still don't get it. As big rock bands go, the stage show is so-so, and the tunes seem to big writ large for the sake of it. Gimme QOTSA any day of the week. There's a big rock band with balls. I reckon Josh Homme would back me in a brawl, where Matt Bellamy would cry with his walkman on. What's that gotta do with anything? Nothing. Nothing at all. Since when did rock writing have to be serious and based on fact?

eh. I like Muse, a lot. My opinion is, if you tried, thats better than saying they suck without listening to them. And if you think Muse fans are insane, go to a My Chemical Romance, or Panic at the Disco concert and tell the fans they suck. I can guarantee you won't get out alive...or with your head at the very least.
And you never hear about Muse in tabloids (unless its Matt getting in trouble in an airport for joking about bombs) which is a lot more than I can say for most.

I completely agree. Muse had one good single and that was Sunburn(the first one) when they had some kind of originality going on. Now they're all about the torture. I really dont like them. His tint pointy wrong face and that whiny voice. NOOOOOOOO.There are soooooo many more bands that deserve the praise Muse get. So many.

I completely agree. Muse are extremely overrated and samey. They had one good single, Sunburn (the first one) and now they are all about the torture-tis very boring. There are soooo many other bands that deserve the praise Muse get. His teeny pointy face irritates me greatly also....although he cant help his face...rodent!!

It's an interesting point that You make about Muse sounding like Radiohead, I thought the same until I started listening to Muse albums and seeing them live, I now can't see the comparisons that people make between the two bands at all, Muse Rock! You may not be converted but I would recommend at least going to see a Muse gig or playing perhaps there latest album 'Black Holes & Revelations' which tends to steer away from the 'whining tortured artistry' (as you put it) I honestly can't hear that in what Muse do, what I can hear is an awesome band making awesome music.
Not that there is anything wrong with Radiohead either or come to that QOTSA but then they sound like Grand Funk Railroad.
