Can You Gig It?: The Chap / The Guillotines @ The Buffalo Bar, London, 21.2.08
Isabelle O'Carroll, editor of men's fashion authority Brandish, went to a gig last night and set aside a few moments of her valuable time to tell us - and you - yes YOU - all about it. Watch out for her new adjective for gentlemen wearing inappropriately skinny jeans.
How did you rate the venue?
Last time I was at the Buffalo Bar I was so tired I had to watch The Chap with my eyes closed in one of their nice comfy banquettes. I love a good banquette.
What were the crowd like?
A few really horrible alcohol-bloated, parsnip-legged sub-Libertines wankers; but mostly a crowd of good-humoured, slightly geeky gorgeous people.
Was the support act any good or did it send you to the bar?
Support was The Guillotines and I love them but I'm biased cos I know them. Their drummer had finger probs unfortch, and had to go to hospital straight after the gig.
Bar โ rip-off or value for money?
So-so.
Venue staff โ nice or nasty?
They are nice and friendly.
Toilets โ swilling with piss, or spick and span?
Fine but the toilet doors are really heavy and I always get fooled into thinking there's someone in the cubicle. Also, the men's toilets flooded and there were guys in the girls', so I had to take my first ever demure piss.
Highlight / lowlight of show?
Probably The Chap's dance routines and other onstage antics.
Any other comments?
I love the Chap, they're talented intelligent and funny musicians. That is all.
