Friction.tv launch channel to save east London pub

georgetavern.gifIf you're a lizard-hipped east London bon viveur, you may know that Stepney's George Tavern pub - which hosts all manner of musical happenings - is in the sights of property developers who are no doubt keen to replace it with luxury apartments or somesuch. Well, help is at hand from online debating platform Friction.tv, who have set up a dedicated channel to fight the boozer's corner.

The ramshackle George is planning to hold fundraising events, footage of which you can expect to see on Friction TV's site. Since previous guests have apparently included Amy Winehouse and - really?? - Justin Timberlake, it will be interesting to see what names they can attract.

Never shy of a good fight, milk-lapping MP George Galloway has put his name to the campaign, and appears in a couple of Friction TV's videos. The landlady also uses Friction TV's platform to announce the creation of a charitable trust, which aims to raise enough moolah to buy the disused 'Stepneys' nightclub behind the pub, and turn it into a community centre.

If you want to check out the videos posted on the channel so far click here; and if you then fancy signing the related petition, click this.
