Greek festival somewhat ruined by weapon-wielding masked anarchists

csgas.gifIt may rain, it may get muddy, you may lose the number of that hot swamp-monster you danced with under the stars... but however bad it gets, your festival experience will surely not feature masked anarchists armed with CS gas, iron bars and baseball bats. This is what happened at the Ejekt Festival in Greece at the weekend, with one of the injured parties including a performer - Rick Smith of Underworld.

The incident took place during the Beastie Boys' set, and the event was then evacuated while the injured were taken to hospital. Fortunately Rick has returned to the UK for further treatment, so let's hope that means he wasn't too seriously injured. The incident raises further questions about Greek authorities' ability to deal with large gatherings, following the trouble at the Champions League final last month.

Stu,
are you interested in seeing me officiate at the Wales v Germany game in the millenium stadium, Cardiff, in September? Joe and Richie are going.
