The weekend is nearly upon us and the sunshine looks like it’s going to last right through! So I thought I’d give you a round up of some other good news about the next batch of festivals. Here goes…

- The Underage Festival – the UK’s first for under 19s – is gearing up for its launch at Victoria Park in London at midday today. Mercury Music Prize nominees The Young Knives are set to perform, alongside just-announced acts Lethal Bizzle, Jack Penate and The Maccabees. There’s so much info there’s a whole separate post about it on this site!

- It’s all about Victoria Park this weekend – Saturday sees it stage the Field Day Festival, or ‘London’s first psychedelic fete’ as organisers have nicknamed it. Simian Mobile Disco, Bat For Lashes and Euros Childs (former frontman of Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci) are all performing. The perfect last minute purchase, according to The Times.

- There’ll be more Scottish action this weekend when Beauly (near Inverness) plays host to the award-nominated Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival. It’s a bit of a retro-fest with The Magic Numbers and James headlining. Tennessee 3 have pulled out due to illness but all other acts, including Kate Nash, Sandi Thom and Pigeon Detectives, are confirmed. More here.

- Quite possibly the finest-monikered festival of the year takes place this weekend. Endorse-it-in-Dorset boasts an eclectic line up swinging from Lee Scratch Perry and The Undertones to Phil Hartnoll (Orbital). Plus there’ll be street entertainment, theatre and comedy on site at Oakley Farm near Salisbury.

- Herts County Showground will be crammed full of the inaugural Redbourn Festival this weekend. A very last minute announcement has added alternative popsters Pull Tiger Tail to the bill. They join headliners Feeder, Dirty Pretty Things and the Ordinary Boys on the roster. If that tempts you, tickets are still available here.

- And finally, Bristol’s boutique festival Bloom will be bringing the requisite silliness to the weekend. Organisers are attempting to break the world record for the Biggest Ever Game of Musical Statues. Don’t worry though - jumping around is allowed, nay encouraged, to the likes of Dub Pistols, Aim and Coldcut. Text tickets are still available via the Tixmob service.
