5 songs you might mistakenly download using Cliq, the new instant music download service

The days of having to listen carefully to the DJ at the end of a track, hoping that he/she will mention the name of the song instead of giving you another traffic update, may soon be over.

Cliq is a service that will allow you, if you're listening to digital radio on your phone / DAB radio, to instantly download the song in your ears. Technology, eh? What will they think of next, etc, etc. Tech Digest reported recently that all of the "big four" major labels are getting behind the service, so you can expect to hear a lot more about it in the future.

There is a flipside to this, of course. How many songs have you loved the intro to, only to be sorely, bitterly and - oh yes - murderously disappointed by the tune as a whole?

Without further ado, let's see what you could end up with if your download finger gets twitchy:

1. Coldplay - "In My Place"

Many's the time the drums that open this track have come on the radio and my heart has done a little rock salute, as I expect The Darkness' nouveau power ballad "Love Is Only A Feeling" to come in. Alas, Chris Martin's mewling little bearded lamb voice announces itself instead. The intros to these two songs are far too similar.

2. Stiltskin - "Inside" / Babylon Zoo - "Spaceman"
Take your pick between these two examples of Levi's ad intro-fraud. While Stiltskin's "Inside" originally presented itself as some kind of uplifting Smashing Pumpkins-style riffmonster, Babylon Zoo's "Spaceman" was supposed to be a helium-voiced rave masterpiece. Instead, they turned out to be a hairy, sub-grunge dirge and a faux-Bowie travesty respectively.

3. Orson - "No Tomorrow"
I remember the first time I heard Orson's hit that I was horrifically disappointed in the song as a whole, after what was a killer opening full of hooky guitars that made you want to go "do-do-ooh-ooh!" And mentioning Red Bull in the chorus doesn't do it any faves, either.

4. Fatman Scoop feat. Faith Evans - "Love Like This"
Any time I hear Faith Evans' original - a smoothe R&B; groove - I think of luxurious bars, cocktails, hot girls and funky, laidback vibes all round. Good times.

But if you turn on the radio mid-song you may enjoy Faith for a moment before having your tranquility shattered by: "FATMAN SCOOP CROOKLYN CLAN, FATMAN SCOOP CROOKLYN CLAN, GOTTA HUNDRED DOLLAR BILL PUT YOUR HANDS UP".

Oh shit.

5. Jive Bunny - "Swing The Mood"
"Wow! Bill Haley's 'Rock Around The Clock'! No, it's 'Wake Up Little Susie'. No, it's 'Shake, Rattle and Roll'. No, it's 'All Shook Up'. Oh dear. CANCEL! CANCEL!"
