Neon Neon single and album due out in March

Mof reported last year on the collaboration between Gruff Rhys and Boom Bip, which goes by the name Neon Neon. Now, much as I love Super Furry Animals, Gruff's side projects can occasionally be a tad... inaccessible. Seeing him perform with Brazilian oddball Tony Da Gatorra last year was a particularly underwhelming experience.

The good news, therefore, is that Neon Neon is not only accessible - it is pop magnificence.

"I Lust U", which also features Welsh singer-songwriter Cate Le Bon, is the kind of dance-pop with depth you could imagine Norwegian star Annie producing. It's not officially out until March apparently, as is their album Stainless Style, but you can - and bloody well should - go and listen to it at their MySpace.

Check out the other tracks as well - given some decent promotion, Neon Neon could be a huge pop success I reckon. Whether that's what Gruff and Boom Bip actually want is another matter entirely, of course. But personally I'd love to see just a touch of fuzzy logic jazzing up the pop charts.
