The good thing about there being approximately 45,000 festivals this summer is that you're more likely to get tickets to the less well-publicised ones. Take the Kent Music Festival, which takes place this weekend at Port Lympne, near Folkstone. Tickets for the non-camping fest are still available at the time of writing, and at shockingly un-extortionate prices, too.

KMF takes place over two days - but not consecutive days, the tricksters. No - it's Friday and Sunday, with Saturday presumably a day of recovery in between. Friday will feature The Feeling, Ghosts, Brakes, The Ordinary Boys and up-and-comers The Rumble Strips - and all for only £25 (before those pesky fees). Now, while that is something of a bargain, it may be worth reminding you that the gates open at 3pm, so you might need to take the afternoon off work / Uni / playschool to get your money's worth.

So then on Saturday you can rest up and upload your jerky, blurry, nausea-inducing videos to YouTube, before heading back on Sunday to catch, um, Jools Holland and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra and, um, Lulu. And, um, Ruby Turner. And, um, Louise Marshall. For, um, £5 more than what you paid on Friday. Um.

OK, so maybe both days won't be to your liking. But I'd say Friday looks like a bit of a steal, weather permitting of course. I'm in the south-east and my little weather widget thing says there may be a bit of sun on Friday, as well as the almost inevitable cloud and showers. So maybe pack your Kag-in-a-Bag / pac-a-mac / a bin-bag just in case.
